The official website for the Aldnoah.Zero television anime announced a compilation movie which will include the previously announced new episode Ame no Danshou (Fragment of Rain) on Friday. The movie, titled Aldnoah.Zero (Re+), is opening in Japanese theaters for a limited time on February 28. Episode 24.5 is scheduled to be released on March 26.Aldnoah.Zero emerged from a collaboration between animation studios A-1 Pictures and TROYCA. Created by Gen Urobuchi, known for his work on Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) and Psycho-Pass, the series was designed to delve into themes of warfare, class divide, and human survival.
The sci-fi mecha anime was directed by Ei Aoki, who previously worked on Fate/Zero, bringing his expertise in blending intricate plotlines with dynamic action sequences. Alongside Urobuchi and Aoki, Katsuhiko Takayama (Tasogare Otome x Amnesia) handled the series composition, contributing to the story’s layered structure and character development.
Key staff also included character designer Masako Matsumoto (Overtake!) and acclaimed composer Hiroyuki Sawano, whose powerful soundtrack became a signature element of the series.
Aldnoah.Zero aired its first season in Summer 2014, with the second second following in Winter 2015. Aniplex of America licensed the anime series in North America and simulcast it on Aniplex Channel, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Daisuki. The company also released the title on home video.
