Pierrot Films Partners With Asahi Production To Enhance Anime Production Quality

In a move to enhance their anime production, Pierrot Films has announced a strategic partnership with Asahi Production.

The agreement, signed on Oct 11, 2024, aims to establish a system for producing high-quality animation works by leveraging the strengths of both companies.

In their press release, Pierrot Films noted that despite the growth in number of TV anime that are being produced every year (approximately 300 since 2015), there was also a visible demand for higher quality productions from the audiences.

Recognizing this need, Pierrot Films and Asahi Production have agreed to collaborate to meet these expectations and maintain consistency in quality.

Under the agreement, Pierrot, known for its extensive experience in long-running anime series, will combine its production expertise with Asahi Production’s technological skills including photography and CGI.

Asahi Production, founded in 1973, began as a company specializing in shooting techniques for animation and has since grown to handle all aspects of the animation process, including planning, production, drawing, CGI, and editing.

The collaboration is being done to enable both companies to create a more robust production system, ensuring a steady output of top-tier content for both domestic and international audiences.

Moving forward, Pierrot and Asahi Production plan to embark on joint projects, share resources, and engage in talent exchange to cater to the needs of their audiences.

Established in 1979, Pierrot Films is an animation studio known for producing long-running TV series and theatrical films. The company has been involved in creating Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, Bleach, Kingdom, Tokyo Ghoul, and Mr. Osomatsu.

They recently set up their sub-studio, Pierrot Films, in order to focus on creating trending shorter anime, focusing on series with sequels, rather than sticking to their approach of rolling out long anime series.
