Avex Pictures opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Yuuki Kimikawa‘s Tsuihousha Shokudou e Youkoso! (Welcome to the Outcast’s Restaurant!) light novel on Sunday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured). The anime series will air in 2025.Kimikawa penned the gourmet fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from October 2018 to September 2020. Overlap began printing the series in June 2019, featuring illustrations by Gaou (Guild no Uketsukejou desu ga, Zangyou wa Iya nanode Boss wo Solo Toubatsu Shiyou to Omoimasu). The third volume went on sale in June 2020. The light novel has a cumulative 850,000 copies of its volumes in print.
Tsumumi began drawing a manga adaptation on the Comic Gardo website in September 2019. Overlap released the eighth volume on June 25.
Tentai Books licensed the light novel in English in May 2020 and released the second volume in January 2023. Kaiten Books licensed the manga adaptation in English in December 2020 and released the third volume both digitally and physically on September 1 and September 20, respectively.
Synopsis
Backstabbed by those he considered friends, Dennis has been exiled from one of the strongest guilds around: the Silver Wings Battalion. He doesn’t think much of it, though, as he was dying to use his level 99 cooking skills anyway. That’s why he decides to leave the city behind and open up a diner in the countryside.
While pursuing his dream, Dennis meets Atrielle, a girl exiled from her noble household and relegated to slavery until he saves her.
The pair open the diner together, and their first client is… an exiled knight from a different guild? How peculiar. But she is not the only customer; a cocky mage and a drastically overworked yet underpaid sage become regulars as well.
The knight brings trouble to the diner at times, but Dennis’s cooking skills and beloved butcher knives cut through trouble and hunger alike!
